 "Nightlife in Uruguay"
It all depends on your definition of "boogie down". Where are you from yourself Stuart? A big city?As I said in another post (link below) there is a throng of bars and boliches (dance clubs) along Bartolome Mitre in the old city. On Thursday and Friday there seems to be an older crowd, on Saturday it seems to be over run with 17 year olds in hot pants! In Azabache in Parque Battle there is a "salsa night" every Wednesday...but do not fear if you do not salsa, there's lots of good music and many people NOT dancing salsa also. There is also "W" on the rambla at Parque Rodo. I've never been inside here, it looks to be a pretty big club, but it also seems to be the one that attracts many posers...the type of people who wear sunglasses indoors at night! There are a couple of places in Pocitos too (I haven't seen many that I would consider to be for dancing, but plenty that get rather lively - Pony Pisador, Lotus etc). I personally don't go there because of a) the attitudes, b) the hiked up prices and c) the long taxi journey home. However it is a very popular area. |
