Traveling to Montevideo in 3 weeks- Advice on accomodations

Thank author of this post/commentHi everyone,

My husband, infant daughter (6 months) and me are traveling to Uruguay at the beginning of August and are trying to decide between two places to stay for 2 weeks. Both are rental apartments, one is located in Pocitos (vidal y rambla) and the second is near the centro (1027 calle duranzo). Primarily we'd like to be sure that we are staying in a comfortable, safe, and good location.

Any advice or assitance would be great.

Thanks

Definitly pocitos.

Pocitos will be nicer and safer specially with a young child.

Thanks Ana,

Seems most of the advice I am getting is to stay in Pocitos. Mostly I am concerned about traveling with my daughter and walking around the area safely so it seems this would be the best bet.

Are you familiar with the other area?

Yes I am familiar with Durazno St.. When single I used to live near this area.

This area is nice for a walk, and not too far you have a very nice park. Parque Rodó. Any way, it will be better if you stay in pocitos and during the day you can walk to Durazno St. and Parque Rodó just to look some streets with trees. NOT in the night.

For the nonspellers: Urugauy and Monte Video is Montevideo (monte-vid-day-o), real estate agents are "Inmobiliaria", and of course Uruguay is not spelled Uraguay. 3154519530
