In another message, Dan said:"My trip from USA this time will be by ship from Fort Lauderdale, November 19, and arriving in Montevideo December 15." Is that a freighter or a cruise ship? If it's a freighter how do you make the arrangements? Ever tried the onboard internet on some of the cruise ships? It seems a little pricey, but if it is a good connection.... Trackbacks

It's by cruise ship, actually. I did check into freigters but found none doing what I wanted to do and within a reasonable length of time. Actually my first leg is a repositioning to Valparaiso; then remaining on board to Montevideo. No, I've never used Internet on a ship. It is expensive. I am going to experiement with my wifi this time, but probably no luck. I can hit cyber cafes in the few ports where we stop, though. Dan

How was your cruise, Dan? I love cruising. Prince Charming and I have been on three and that's just not enough. What cruise line did you sail? How long was your trip?My granddad took a freighter cruise around the world some years back. He enjoyed himself. I don't recall if he got down to South America at all, though.

I just had lunch with Dan today and he's back to the USA in a few day... I think it was a 3 or 4 week trip by boat.

Sounds like it was an interesting trip. Would love to hear all about it.How long did the cruise ship stay in port and what other ports did they hit or was it only the two ports. How long were you actually on board sailing with them? Please give us a blog on here about your trip and add a couple of pictures if you have them.
