Rent in Pocitos for 3 months (January - March )

Ready for retirement and looking to live in Uruguay 3 Months a year.

Myself a Uruguayan born with 40 years in the States and my wife American born who visited Uruguay a couple of times.

We need help and advice about how and where to rent in Pocitos and how much it will cost us. Thank you and we will see you at Sunday meetings

"Renting an apartment in Pocitos"

Hi Jorge,

First of all welcome on board to you and Florence :) I'm sure you'll meet lots of like minded friends at the meetings here, there seem to be more and more people moving down here all the time, looks like the cat is out of bag on Uruguay so to speak.

There is a detailed article all about how to find an apartment in the Total Uruguay expat guide, the link is in the menu bar as "free ebook". The guide has some helpful information about life down here and relocation etc.

I found the rental system in Uruguay is very different to what people in the US, Canada, Europe and Australia are used to. Rents are long term and mostly without furniture, neither of which suits you. As such you're going to be looking at apartments aimed at tourists so the prices will be higher but the quality of these places seems quite good. This page has gathered the names of a few apartments and guest houses, you should also check out the Total Uruguay website directory (also in the menu bar above under "links"). Here some Uruguayan's have listed their short term apartment rentals.
