Flying to BA in November? Be aware...

Thank author of this post/commentAeroparque is beeing remodelating.

Because of that all their flights are send to "El Palomar".

Be aware!

As this military base do not has a code, when you buy a ticket it will show Aeroparque as destiny... what in a certain point is true: you flight 50 minutes to El Palomar, and from there they take you to Aeroparque by bus. This trip (from Palomar to Aeroparque)takes an extra 1h!

Good if you want to know BA places you would never been under other situation.

It seems it is only for November.

Thank author of this post/comment"Very good news for worried U.S: passport holders"

Thanks Ana Inez. This means that arrivals on Montevideo, Punta del Este, Rosario, Córdoba, Bariloche and other short range international and Argentine cabotage flights can relax. The reciprocity fees (cuurently abt US$140) only apply to arrivals at EZE. So, as Ana Inez says the choice is now 3 hours on Buquebus plus 1/2 hour early arrival for check-in, Aduano y Migración or 1 !/2 hours for check-in, security, Aduana and Migración at MVD, 45 minutes in the air, plus 1:10 to get to Aeroparque, plus 15 minutes to 45 minutes to various points in Bs As. When I was a working pilot we called situations of this type TTSGBA, but never in front of the paying pax. (Time To Spare, Go By Air)

Thank author of this post/comment"Buquebus"

Although Buequebus is longer about 3 hours from the Montevideo port, vs air at 45 minutes. Many might find that Buequebus is faster and cheaper.

Buequebus 1/2 for check in, plus 3 hours travel. direct from Montevideo to Buenos Aires. You start downtown and end downtown. Low taxi fares.

Air. 2 hours ahead of time for check in, long taxi ride (expensive in Buenos Aires and expensive returning to Montevideo).

I think the bottom line is that it will be more expensive, take longer and induce more stress to fly to Buenos Aires.

Thank author of this post/comment"Ferry fan"

I live in Colonia departmento so the Buquebus or the other cheapo ferry from Colonia del Sacramento offer the best choice when it comes to visiting Buenos Aires. BQB offers direct ferries from MVD or the possibility of taking their own express buses to the terminal in Colonia.

Most flights from MVD take you to the Aeroparque which is an awfully long way out from the center whereas the ferries take you to where you probably want to go.

Colonia has a lovely airport but no commercial flights. When I took my sister to view it last March, we found that the bushes had grown right across one of the access roads :-)

Hello there! Thank you for the information Ana. As you know there are many people enjoying their time to travel to Uruguay. It seems difficult for passenger to drop by some places before entering Uruguay, but I think there’s no choice.

But, anyway, though it will take time to travel I hope everything goes well and not to mess up the flight of the passengers. If more updates come in, please post. Thank you.

Thank author of this post/comment"More delays possible berfore Aeroparque reopens..."

according to TN and Cronica TV (the Argentine news broadcaster that uses J. Phillip Sousas "Stars and Sripes Forever" as its theme music. Both Argentine broaccasters featured storires Friday the importof w was hich the contractor now claims that 56 days would be the minimum time to resurface the runway. Pase lo que pase, noone isgoing to be landing at an airport wsith partof the runway torn up.

The point of this post is: if you hold a ticket for a flight from now until January that lists either BUE or AEP (two different codes for Aeropàrque) as a point of landing or departure you had best contact the travel agent or the airline itself to find out where you'll actually be flying to or from and the actual time city center to city center.

Or, in short, happy boating.

For the nonspellers: Urugauy and Monte Video is Montevideo (monte-vid-day-o), real estate agents are "Inmobiliaria", and of course Uruguay is not spelled Uraguay. 4157628538
