Coming and going to Europe

Thank author of this post/comment

Since Pluna (the ROU national airline) stopped doing its service to Madrid, Iberia has been cranking up its MAD-MVD fares in an alarming manner.

I need to visit Spain in June and to my amazement, I found that the cheapest Iberia round trip fare Montevideo - Barcelona came out at an eye-watering 1198 U$S but flights on the same days from Buenos Aires were available for 627 U$S.

I see that the owners of the Buquebus company have plans to operate an airline and have applied for slots on the MVD - MAD route so maybe that will reduce Iberia's greed quotient if BQB ever gets operational.

Patrick.

Thank author of this post/commentI've never found Pluna to be consistent about their routes and their web pages makes it impossible to figure anything out.. telling you YOU MADE AN ERROR if you select days they don't fly to a destination, but never tell you what days they do fly!

I noticed American Airlines just upped their prices to Miami and New York by a couple hundred bucks, breaking the $1000 mark again.

Since you live in Colonia... its a no brainer to hop over the BA for your flight to Barcelona!

Thank author of this post/commentI prefer to use Carrasco as I'm usually not in the mood for a bus into Buenos Aires from EZE airport, a taxi to the BQB ferry and a 50 minute river crossing after a 12 hour night flight... but for 500 U$S in savings, I'm happy to suffer :-)

Patrick.

For the nonspellers: Urugauy and Monte Video is Montevideo (monte-vid-day-o), real estate agents are "Inmobiliaria", and of course Uruguay is not spelled Uraguay. 2130956329
