Riding off road vehicles is a popular sport and pastime. My husband likes to ride motocross motorcycles. Is it a popular activity in Uruguay? Trackbacks

Ahhh.. a subject dear to my heart... my last bike in Canada was a 500 Aprillia.. That's pretty much out of the question here. Siggghhhh.. No. You will see a lot of motos here.. but they're used for personal transportation and work (preferred method of delivering food in Montevideo). Young Uruguayans have no possibility of buying or even driving a car.... too expensive. So they buy Chinese motos for USD500 to USD900. It's also the leading cause of death for young Uruguayan males. In the past year, I have unfortunately seen 2 of them. But if you come and you get your hands on one, there's some really good off road riding. My personal favourite is the backside of Cerro San Antonio... Several years a good friend of mine decided to take a path down the front side.. I thought for sure he was going to break every bone in his body, but he made it to the bottom unscathed. I'm a wuss.. I rode the backside and met up with at the beach...

Just imagine traffic if all those motos were cars!
