Except for Buquebus buses, they all do a few stops along the way but there are no big cities or towns between Colonia del Sacramento and MVD so the halts are brief. The buses also act as light cargo carriers so they pick up and drop off parcels.

The bus fare is about 180$ (9 U$S approx) and the 177km journey takes about 2 hours 40 minutes inc stops. When you arrive at Tres Cruces, you can walk through the terminal and you will find a taxi rank just outside the doors on your right. MVD taxis have meters and charts to guard against rip-offs and are also reasonably priced.

At this time of year you probably won't need to pre-book the bus but you can if you want... either online or when you pass one of the agencies while you are wandering about in Colonia del Sacramento which is a small city ideal for walking. Unlike Eurpoean buses, your ticket will specify your particular seats so its civilized and there isn't a scrum. For exploring Colonia del Sacramento you can even hire yourself an electric buggy if you want to drive out along the Real de San Carlos to view the beaches and the old bull ring.

For the nonspellers: Urugauy and Monte Video is Montevideo (monte-vid-day-o), real estate agents are "Inmobiliaria", and of course Uruguay is not spelled Uraguay. 1558941643
