Quick question: I received my first bill from Antel regarding my internet connection (strange...they are on time for the billing :)).

I have not the ADSL connection as I do not want a fixed phone line. I have an Antel USB key with ("10 MB package").

In my statement, they state:

Consumo Integra $147.13

Consumo integra por MB $836.07

Total: $983.20 (pesos)

What is the difference between both?

I used Internet a lot because this is my window to the world. Do you think the prices are decent?

- Unlimited use

- Limited by hours, ie: 40 hours a month

- Limited by data, ie: 1 gigabyte a month

The price is also determined by the data rate

- 1 megabit per second

- up to maybe 10 megabit per second.

So, I suspect you have a plan that offers 10 megabit per second data (10 MB), but is limited to a certain number of GB.

If you exceed your allotment of data, you are charged by the MB (megabyte) of usage. There is also a limit on the maximum amount they will charge you. I think it ends up being roughly 1-1/2 times how much the flat rate service of the same speed would cost.

Total: $983.20 (pesos)

So the question is whether the flat rate service for 10Mb per second internet is more or less than $983, or if there is a slower flat rate service that is less which would meet your needs.

Most of the carriers seem to offer a 1 or 2 Gibabyte per month plan for like 500 pesos. (based on a contract).

Take a close look at the options and what the other carriers, Movistar and Claro offer.

The tariff (or plan) is called PLSMS 2M L and I pay a fixed price of 819$ (pesos) per month including IVA.

Last month I downloaded 67 gigabytes.

Its a much better deal than my former Dedicado rural service which offered an unlimited but flaky 256 kilobit/second service for 5, 000$ (pesos) per month.
