Tennis is mildly popular in Uruguay, although Uruguayan players have not been as successful as the Argentinian and Chilean ones. Marcelo Filippini is Uruguay's most successful player, winning five singles titles, reaching the quarterfinals at the 1999 French Open, and achieving a rank of #30 in 1990.

The Uruguay Davis Cup team currently competes in Group I of the Americas regional Zone, and the Fed Cup team competes in Group I as well. Pablo Cuevas is currently the highest-ranked Uruguayan male player.

There is also Japan, or maybe it is popular just because of their anime's (animation) about Tennis but it I haven't heard Japan entering or winning an international Tennis competition. It is always the Brazilians, Chilleans, Americans and Argentinians who reigned over tin these said sports. I think the only time Japan can win over the other countries in Tennis is through animation. This is what I am talking about:

For the nonspellers: Urugauy and Monte Video is Montevideo (monte-vid-day-o), real estate agents are "Inmobiliaria", and of course Uruguay is not spelled Uraguay. 3442507688
