Buying appliances can be a little tricky. There are many different places you can purchase them at. The prices are all very smiliar and different stores carry different sets of brands. What it seemed is that between two stores that carried the same brands, the prices would be smilar but one item would be $50 less.
I thought it would be easier to get everything from one place. Their washing machine was $50 more than across the street. I asked if they would give a discount for buying the whole lot of stuff with cash.
After a long wait they finally came up with a $34 discount. Not very motivating when I could save $50 buying the washer across the street.
We decided to check out Centro and there everything was priced in pesos rather than dollars . It's always best to pay in the marked currency as the stores don't usually have a very good conversion rate. I had a pocket full of dollars.
We ended up buying the appliances from two different stores and none of the serial numbers were written down.
Though when I purchased a US$7.50 light fixture and paid with a 500 pesos note they did write the serial number for that on the receipt!
Most of the places selling applicances online have prices listed on the web. The webpages could be organized better, but it was a good start to the shopping process.
Some places like Tienda Inglesia (a large grocery store) let you purchase online (food and/or appliances).
