Anything to do?

Thank author of this post/commentI was trying to find out more about Salto. The most I could find was that it is the second largest city and about the thermal pools. What is there to site see?

Salto as Paysandu are great cities where you can relax end enjoy life....here in Paysandu you have Los Naranjos, a working tourist ranch, hardly no crime and people are very friendly...as a cyclist I love to hit the country roads or go to smaller nearby towns....like Casas Blancas, old company town founded by the brits 200 years ago....Conchillas in Colonia is exactly the same...very interesting stories that people will share with you....Uruguay is better then Provance or Tuscanny....multicolored rolling hills & the fruit, vegetables and cheeses are incredible...not to mention the pasteries...another great place to visit is Colonia Valdence or orthodox russians colonies....really a great country....if you come to the interior take the Directo buses....the other ones stop in every town making the trip longer...saludos, Daniel

Thank author of this post/commentI've heard that Salto area's beautiful and that there are a couple of univs. there. Is it possible to earn a bit of $ teaching English to Univ. students? Do they have apartments (condos) for purchase and what's the price range and cost of living in general. Inflation high right now?

It was a long night for all of us, so the timing for entering the city of natural hot springs was perfect. We dropped our bags, grabbed our suits and headed to the 'spa'. Every single one of us indulged in the options. Personally, I had access to all the springs, spa, jacuzzi's, steam rooms sauna, special showers, a massage, body exfoliation, and mud wrap. All for a whopping $33. How jealous are you! ha. Well this fantasticly relaxing day turned into a disgusting night. It seems we came head to head with a case of food poisoning in the worst way. I was the first to spew (love the graphics don't you!) and half the group followed. My roommate and I took turns all night. It was teerrrrrible. Luckily for me, the next day I was run down, a little weak, but better. It lingered in everyone else for about 2 days. See, my vacation isn't all fun and games! :)

Salto, Uruguay: other attractions

Besides the Termas del Arapey, Salto also offers several other interesting things to do and places to meet, such as for example, its theaters, its squares and parks, its coastlines and its zoo. Salto’s city has two main theaters offering plays and art related activities on a regular basis due to the fact that art expressions and culture are an important aspect of this city. Besides this, those tourists who enjoy green or open areas could have a great time by visiting some of Salto’s parks and squares, where they could relax while being surrounded by trees or meet interesting monuments and constructions.

On the Uruguay River coast line there are several interesting landscapes to meet as well as some beautiful spots ideal for refreshing during summer time. Another interesting place to visit in Salto is its zoo, a natural park which is home of more than 150 species, some of them autochthonous. Those tourists who love animals should make sure of visiting this zoo, where they could meet several exotic and beautiful animals in a great environment.
