Mike

Teriyaki Flank Steak

1 Tbsp ground ginger

3 cloves garlic

1-1/2 pounds flank steak, trimmed of all visible fat

1/4 cup sherry

1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce

2 Tbsp brown sugar

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a baking dish and mix thoroughly. Marinate steak for eight hours in the refrigerator. Preheat broiler. Place meat in broiling pan and broil 4 to 6 inches (10.6 to 15.2 cm) from heat for 5 minutes on each side. Remove from heat and let stand for 5 minutes. Slice thinly across the grain and serve.

I've asked a friend from Uruguay to what is the main element of Uruguayan dish and she said it is beef. I was hoping since they are a big beef nation, they have more beef recipes and dishes. Can you give us more recipes which really tells about the Uruguayan taste and look? How do Uruguayans plate their food, I believe that plating is also essential for a more aesthetic appealing meal.

what is your question again Ms. Sweet Angel from cloud nine? Can you clarify it?

I haven't tasted Uruguay's signature cake or is there any cake popularize by Uruguay? Can you share the recipe or a website showing what that cake is?

Thank author of this post/commentI think what Sweet Angel is asking is something more people wonder before they move to a new country - will they have the food I am used to?

Of course they have cake here in Uruguay, I am not so definite about how common icing is. There are lots of bakeries everywhere so you won't be short of options!

Uruguayan's eat biscochos (small pastries) and they put dulce de leche (kind of like caramel) on most of their deserts, but I'm sure if you look around you'll find a new favourite.

They have a famous confectionery shop called "Cakes" (they have a special cafe in Pocitos) and I have a feeling you'll really like their stuff!

For the nonspellers: Urugauy and Monte Video is Montevideo (monte-vid-day-o), real estate agents are "Inmobiliaria", and of course Uruguay is not spelled Uraguay. 2333001949
