Renting in Uruguay

Hola, I am an American living in rural Panama, but trying to check out Montevideo. From what little I've been able to find about rentals, it sounds almost impossible.

Can anyone tell me average rent for one person in apartment or small house or would it be better to look outside the city?

Thank author of this post/commentWhat sounds "almost impossible"?

I think you were reading my thread about renting an UNfurnished apartment. I found in the Pocitos area it was EASY to rent a FURNISHED apartment.

The first apartment we stayed in was a furnished one bedroom apartment and the rent was $350 + phone + electric (the building fees were included in the rent). The location was excellent.

Apartments with "Central Losa" heat are excellent... those are heated by hot water pipes in the floor.

Average rent is a difficult figure. I think you can find lots of places in the US$500 range in the Pocitos area.

When did you write that? I'm having a hard time finding apartments to rent for $500 in Pocitos or Punta Carretas

I also would like to know about these apartments, they sound very affordable.

For the nonspellers: Urugauy and Monte Video is Montevideo (monte-vid-day-o), real estate agents are "Inmobiliaria", and of course Uruguay is not spelled Uraguay. 2949588855
