I lived within blocks of there for a total of 4 or so years... and almost 2 within an easy walk. Never had any problems... any house of the day or night.Most of the buildings around there have 24 hr porteros...so there are always eyes on the street... Thanks, Glen, for the peace of mind! I was on a site earlier warning of crime and home evasions, which I'd not heard about before. Kinda worried me, but didn't seem in sync with what other people have been saying. My husband is in Montevideo right now searching for our rental and has found one he likes in the area. Laura |

Many find comfort in apartments rather than houses, especially in that neighborhood as most have porteros (door men).Most of the problems expats have shared at the Sunday meetings with respect to crime, related to houses and pickpockets at the Tristan Navaja Feria (street market) and in Cuidad Vieja.
