off-season rentals?

Thank author of this post/commentI like deserted beaches, and don't mind the storms so much as long as I have a decent place for shelter, so I am in search of an off-season place on the coast. I have not been to PDE, but just from the pics I know that during high season it is not the place for me. However I would be interested in such a place in the off-season.

I've been asking about this in smaller places along the Uruguay coast, and am told that most of the houses/apartments wouldn't be practical in the winter as there is no heating.

So I am looking for a place to be sometime from March through December, preferably on the coast. In the past I have sat out the high season in the BsAs or Montevideo, which I'll do this coming summer.

I'd like to keep the rent to as close to US$600 as I can, but understand I may have to stretch that. Another thing is I don't drive, so access to shops open at that time of year, and within reasonable distance, is a necessity. A bathtub would be a very nice touch.

I'm keeping an eye open for locations, but probably won't make serious inquiries until the time is nigh.

Would like to hear from anyone whose done something along these lines.

Thank author of this post/comment"Best plan"

If I was you I'd take a few day trips to likely locations with your camera and notebook and jot down the private owners phone numbers wherever you see a for rent sign on something you like. Come the end of the season, spend a day phoning the numbers and see what you can get.

You already know the risks of houses built just for summer but in my experience, you'll see a few solidly built ones too.

For the nonspellers: Urugauy and Monte Video is Montevideo (monte-vid-day-o), real estate agents are "Inmobiliaria", and of course Uruguay is not spelled Uraguay. 857533293
