Hollywood
Punta del Este, Uruguay
Feathers from A lovely boa -
I've read that Punta Del Este is the hot spot of Uruguay. Maybe the equivalent of Hollywood, St Tropez, or Miami. Is this an accurate characterization? Trackbacks

It might be where all the high flyers from those places (and especially Argentina) hang out... George Bush Sr is rumored to have a house there too.Of course 9-10 months of the year it might be better described as a ghost town.

LOL! That many months of the year? How does the town survive? Where do the people go? What is the big draw the other two to three months?
Comment #3 Lee from Pocitos -
The "big draw" is that it is summer!

Summer is a big enough of a draw for me in most everything. I love summer. And am I correct in understanding that it's not so dreadfully hot in summer in Uruguay? Ah summer. Beach. Cocktails.

I am happy in Montevideo without air conditioning in the summer... though many places are air conditioned I enjoy the almost contast breeze.

I guess that's true of a lot of beach communities. That's how it was for me when I lived at the beach. Are the temperatures hotter the closer inland you get?
