Five Star Hotels

Thank author of this post/commentI am looking to stay in a really nice hotel in Punta del Este. Can anyone recommend any five star hotels?

From Down Under
Thank author of this post/commentI hear that the Mantra in la Barra is a really nice place. Also, it has a Casino and it's near the nightlife. The hotel is five blocks to the Montoya and Bikini beaches.

Thank author of this post/commentI hear that the hotel Art Las cumbres is really nice. The restaurant is nice with a great wine selection. I would suggest that you find more information on this hotel.

Thank author of this post/commentA five star hotel sounds like a nice idea but I won't be staying one for my visit. You can go to that link and find information on five star hotels in Uruguay.

Thank author of this post/commentThere are a number of smaller, boutique hotels in the Punta area that are 5 starish.. but the only one I know for sure, is the Conrad.

If you're going April/May/June, the prices are much, much lower than high season and you shouldn't have a problem getting a room.

If you're planning next year high season--book now.

My cousin, a successful and resourceful attorney, visited with us a few years back and while here, decided he wanted to stay one or two nights in the 'famous' Conrad.

We took him there one afternoon in late December and he casually asked for a room for one or two nights.

We were told they had nothing at all until mid March..

He insisted and persisted and almost protested.. but to no avail.

That's Punta.

The other problem in Punta del Este is often you'll find minimum rental periods of a week or so...

Plan ahead! You might also skip the 5 star resorts, stay someplace cheap in Maldanado and enjoy the beaches!

Yeah, I like Jan's idea of hotel / lodging hopping. I think it would be more fun (and cheaper) than trying to book for those 5 - star hotels in the vicinity of Punta del Este.

The idea of your vacation is going out right? You would want to expend you entire stay inside the hotel room rights. So it's a waste of time if you'll be staying for a fancy hotel.

Thank author of this post/commentI would always good a small bed and breakfast... for the social interaction with the other guests... unfortunately they don't seem too popular in Uruguay.

For the nonspellers: Urugauy and Monte Video is Montevideo (monte-vid-day-o), real estate agents are "Inmobiliaria", and of course Uruguay is not spelled Uraguay. 3888142992
