| Dog food What does dog food usually cost in Uruguay? I know there's probably 1000 types of dog food and the locally produced varieties are probably a lot cheaper than anything imported. I'd think with the beef production, there's a plentiful supply of cheap local canine fare.So what do you feed your dogs? Also, what does a typical vet bill run? As an example, our lab cut his foot the other day relatively badly. The vet bill for stiches and to knock him out during the repair was $550. What would something like this likely cost in one of the towns outside of MVD or punta del este? |

5 years ago I used to feed my dogs and cats various cuts of beef as it was much cheaper than biscuits and a quarter the price of imported tinned dog and cat foods.Sad to say the price of beef has trebled since them so both dogs and cats now get Brazilian biscuits (Champ for the dogs 22kgs = 550 pesos and Felix for the cats 15kgs = 460 pesos.) Needless to say the dogs prefer the cat biscuits and vice versa. The dogs also get a bit of spare rib and the cats minced beef for breakfast and they all enjoy some canned minced sardines in the evening. (450 grms = 21 pesos.) My local vet is staggeringly cheap. I pay her a fixed monthly "cuota" (145 pesos per month to cover 2 dogs and 3 cats) and in exchange, consultations are free, drugs are discounted and treatments very reasonably priced. Chopper my lurcher caught something very nasty 2 years ago which resulted in ulcers in both eyes. The treatment involved daily applications of eye ointment and because I was alone here back then and Chopper is a big dog who refused to have gunk squirted into her eyes, I did daily trips to the vet for 9 weeks where I would pin Chopper to the examination table and the vet would apply the ointment. It cost me 270 pesos in ointment and the 9 weeks of daily treatment was free... being covered by the monthly payments. Needless to say Chopper and I bought her the finest box of choccies that Buenos Aires could provide as a thank you. Compared to UK small animal vets, Andrea's charges are minuscule. |

stabilized on Keller adulto. We often add cheese, apples, bananas, oil, rice and other treats. We try to keep them from eating when beach-roaming ´cause we got tired of puppy runs. The Keller comes delivered to the door for $590 per 25 kg bag, with worm medicine and puppy treats. Don´t know where you´ll end up but the (free) delivery zone includes MVD and Canelones.Expert Page: Enjoy life a bit at Feligreta |

Do you mean the town of canelones or the entire department? |
