Cheaper in Pocitos or Less Affluent Neighborhoods Many seem to have the impression that it is cheaper BIT to shop in Pocitos. ie, that centro or other neighborhoods will have store offering stuff for a lower price. The farmers market prices would seem to confirm that idea. However, I found when shopping for household appliances, in Pocitos they were priced in US Dollars and in Centro they were priced in Pesos. The bottom line being they were cheaper in Pocitos. After the Sunday Expat meeting I walked a few blocks with an older Uruguayan. He explained to me that the grocery store prices were cheaper in Pocitos than where he lived (in Cerro). He was on his way to Disco in Pocitos and then home on the bus.

For the nonspellers: Urugauy and Monte Video is Montevideo (monte-vid-day-o), real estate agents are "Inmobiliaria", and of course Uruguay is not spelled Uraguay. 2838094812
