Average Food and Beverage Prices

Thank author of this post/commentThere Uruguayan government figured out the stuff an average household buys a the supermarket in a month. I've translated the list to English and have it shown with the prices in Pesos and Dollars (for comparison).

The main objective here was too examine the cost of living issues... maybe maybe it brings up a health issue too! It doesn't seem to be a very healthy selection of stuff. Maybe its because the fresh fruits and vegetables are not includes because they would be purchased at the farmers markets, or maybe because the average household doesn't consume much.

"Eating, not living"

Thank you very much for putting it togeather and translating it into english. It definitely is SOMEWHAT helpful... However, it is not about cost of LIVING, it covers just "Eating and drinking" part of living. The most expensive part of living would be about HOUSING, Utilities, communications and especially - HEALTH. Retired expats are not covered with healthe insurance and KNOWING (approximately, of course) the cost of some procedures and surgeries is crucial. COuld you please add these expenses here. Thank you again.

Thank you for your work in translating and posting this information. I found it very helpful. Just out of curiosity is table salt available WITHOUT being fluoridated, if anyone has personal knowledge? Thanks.

Thank author of this post/comment"House utility phone and health costs"

"The most expensive part of living would be about HOUSING, Utilities, communications and especially - HEALTH."

Housing costs depend on where you live and the type of accommodation you require. A 3 bed single storey house in Valdense costs about 50k U$S yet similar properties in Carrasco cost many times more.

Electricity is expensive compared with most other lands.

Phone calls are also expensive but there are internet alternatives.

Health costs through the mutualistas aren't too pricey. I get my healthcare for free as I'm a unipersonalized small farmer but my partner has to pay a subscription of approx 1250 pesos/month (about 62 U$S.)

For the nonspellers: Urugauy and Monte Video is Montevideo (monte-vid-day-o), real estate agents are "Inmobiliaria", and of course Uruguay is not spelled Uraguay. 2958168903
