Does anyone know if it is very expensive to charter a boat ride or to take a salt water fishing fish trip? I thought it would be an interesting addition to our vacation if it wasn't too expensive.

Ribbon-Good question? I don't know but I'll look into it when I'm in Piriapolis during the next few months.
The water quality is good, there's deep water close by and there's a fishing industry in town.....strong clues the fishing is good.
Stop by the website and stay in-touch. This question has come up more than once.

Rent your fishing boat in Piriapolis rather than Punta del Este and save a bundle and its only 20 minutes away.

I am curious about fishing. My father is so addictive to it. What is there to fishing that makes him go fishing every so often?

when you go fishing it is a chance to get out and do something relaxing. you can free your mind and just be in the wilderness with no worries.

Well Jocelynne, I'm going to assume there are many fish to be caught, seeing as its the ocean! It all depends on what you want to try for though. Try to have some kind of fish in mind before asking another question. There are too many fish off the coast of Uruguay to even list.

"Uruguayan/American retiring."
I know that Fishing is good in Uruguay. Thinking about retiring next year after many years in the USA. Maybe you can tell us how the transition was from the USA to Uruguay ?
I spent a lot of time vacationing in Piriapolis as a child, is it a good place to retire ?
