Piriapolis is considered the second most premiere resort next to Punta del Este.
The site listed gives the history of this area and also has a link to pictures.
You can also get direction to the area and will give you the listings for high and low seasons. A good read about this area if you are looking to go there to settle or for a vacation.
Uruguay's first seaside resort is still a favorite

Another site you might want to check out is Coastal Uruguay (see link.)
The info. is geared to people who might want to live in Piriapolis on a full or part-time basis. All the articles/posts have pictures of the area.
PS: We have a second home there and love it.
