| Government legalization personal mota? I read recently at the attached URL that the government is striding forward in finally liberalizing personal use of "mota" and providing for services to those who are addictive personalities to mitigate any social abuses. I am amazed, pleased, and greatly admire progressive politicians who are attuned to the real world and show compassion. Any news about the process? Of course, man~ana may bring the answer, no? |

Our last but one president proposed legalisation several years ago but most of the deputies and senators dismissed his suggestions as mad.Much of Uru-law seems to emerge gradually after much thought and discussion rather than happening suddenly. :-) Times have moved on and recently, a selection of deputies proposed measures to further decriminalise cannabis... allowing individuals to carry up to 25 grams in public places and grow up to 8 plants at home. As far as I can tell, there was no serious opposition put forward and the proposals were passed though it hasn't been promulgated by the executive branch as law yet. It has had one noticeable result thus far... Alicia Castilla who was jailed last year for growing 31 plants has now been freed. |
| "grower supply shops,legal as a business?"
Hello, We're in our 50's, in the USA, and we own property in a MMJ state. We have leased the land to another couple, and they have been in the business for about 10 years now. Since we go visit our property for upkeep and vacations, (killer good trout fishing) we have become interested in the shops that supply growers, but their areas are saturated. A few months ago, we read about the changing laws in Uruguay, and was wondering if the shops are legal, if their even possible, to open one up. Thank you, for your time. Sincerely D&J |

The resolution passed by the Congress made mention of permitting the sale/supply of seeds and other associated stuff here but these things take time.As far as I know many home growers here obtain seeds on-line from suppliers in Spain who will send them by post. |

ThankYou for your reply Patrick. We're coming to visit Uruguay, and are very excited about our trip. We have decided that Uruguay is not for us as a relocation destination, but maybe a holiday haven, instead. |

Were I young I wouldn't want to live here full time unless I owned a large farm :-)IMV its a great place for both holidays and for retirement but earning a good living here might well be tough. |
