| What is there to see? We'll be staying in the Lafayette hotel in (I think) the centro part of Montevideo. The reviews look a little better than so-so. But the location looks like it might be good. So what's walking distance from the hotel that I should visit? Any good restaurants or shops? |

My wife and I stayed at the Lafayette in May. It is older and the room in which we stayed could use some refurbishing. They serve a very good breakfast, including fairly good coffee, which I was craving after a few days of Colonia del Sacramento coffee. It is within easy walking distance of the interesting old historical area. However, if I had been able to stay in MVD longer, which I had hoped, I would have moved to another hotel. Perhaps one in Pocitos or near the Sunday expat meeting. |
