| Looking for short-term furnished apartment for a couple Hello, My husband and I are coming to Montevideo in Early February 2012 and are looking for a furnished apartment between $500-700 USD. We are a responsible couple in our mid 30s volunteering and learning Spanish. We would love a place to call "home" while we are away from our home in Boston. Any recommendations? What are the different neighborhoods like? |

Where will you be volunteering? That will probably determine the best neighborhood for you. Either there or somewhere on a convenient bus route. |

We want to volunteer north of the city with Karumbe working with sea turltes on the beach, but first and after stay in the city. We really LOVE San telmo in Buenos Aires and would love an older, more colonial part of the city that is still safe.Thanks for reponding! Sahra |

Next questions: 1) How long is "short-term"? 2) What do you expect to be included for the $500-700 per month rate? Utilities? Parking? Laundry facilities? A/C? Internet service? We have all of the above and are paying $1, 100 in Ciudad Vieja (older, more colonial area). The lower your expectation, the better chance you have of hitting your price range. And don't forget that you will probably have to pay 10% of the total lease to the rental agent. Read the Ex-Pat eBook for more info on renting here, it is very good. |

Depending on the dates of your visit I may be able to put you on to an apartment you could share with the two owners who are lovely girls in their twenties both of whom have very good English.
