wanting to move to the cool spot, not hot area, what would a small casita cost to rent or buy somewhere in Uruguay where it is cool weather.. So many thanks
Comment #3 Lee from Pocitos - 09/05/07 15:03
The weather is seasonal here. What may be cool in the winter (now) may be hot in the summer (Dec-Mar).

Rent something on a beach in the East. Most days, even when it's hot, the ocean breeze will cool things down. And if it gets really hot, wade into the water...

Hello, If you want find homes or apartments for rent in Uruguay let me suggest you to pick up a location first.
If you are planing to live near the beach you could choose Pocitos in Montevideo, but you need to know that the "Río de la Plata" (Silver River) is a big see but it's not the ocean.
To get to the Atlantic's waters you need to go east for at least 1hour and you will find Piriápolis, a very nice town on the beach, very quiet during the winter and not as crowdy as Punta del Este during the summer.
In Punta del Este, regardrless of what many people might say, is the only ocean-side city where you can live the kind of life you choose, from enjoying the beach or the fireplace peacefully to trying out the Casino or attending to a Liza Minnelli's concert.
If you choose to go further east you should definitely be looking for mother's nature's peace of mind.
If you want to get a snapshot of the Uruguayan coastline I suggest you to look for Montevideo on Google Earth and check out the East Coast.
To get the gist of the real estate market we use "El País" classifieds (el "Gallito Luis").
If you want me to find something fore you please visit my website (check my profile) and let me know.
Good luck!

Hello Ana, I will be looking for an apartment from Feb-Aug of 2008 for myself and two other women. Is your apartment available during that time?
Comment #7 jaime bertrand (201.199.5.18) - 02/02/08 16:56
good neighborhood near downtown area, near grocery, restaurants and main bus lines. Near park or with park or ocean view (or both) a plus. 1 bedroom on main living area floor, second bedroom same floor or loft considered.
1 or 2 baths, space for clothes washer and dryer desired.
Nicely maintained building. Third to fifth floor best.

The apartment is very well located. It is in the residential neighborhood of Punta Carretas, one of the best of the city. That’s the reason why many of the most prestigious hotels in town decided to establish there, were tranquility and comfort fusion. The beach is only one block away and the Punta Carretas shopping is four blocks, while downtown is at only ten minutes by car. Also, there is a bus stop less than a hundred meter away. By the window or from the terrace besides of enjoying sun all day, it has a wide and green view. That’s because the apartment is, more precisely, in an eight floor in front of the Villa Biarritz Park. The apartment has a room with a double bed, a livingroom and a kitchenette. Everything is new and very clean.
The price is for U$S350 per week, but fees goes down if you stay longer.
The equipment is excellent and new
We also provide a cell phone to use during the stay and free internet (wi fi)
It has also a fixed phone and tv with cable.
If you have any doubt or you are interested in seeing some photographs, don’t hesitate and contact me at gon3mil@hotmail.com

I don't think its real useful to list dates you will be in Uruguay as I doubt property owners are looking for people in forums... it also seems strange to list a property for sale/rent without any contact information. To each his own.

Hello all, I am arriving to MVD early next month. Looking for an apartment for the month of November (will be arriving on the fourth) until January.
I don't need to be in Pocitos or have an elegant place to crash, but do not want to be in a bad neighborhood either. My budget is up to $650 per month, but looking for a better deal than that, ideally with internet connection as well.
Thanks all!
D

Hi all, I am heading to Montevideo around end March 09 for three months and looking for furnished one bedroom apartment. You all seem so helpful, perhaps you could offer some help to a single woman from Down Under
Cheers,

Hi MarieClare, I should have my studio up and ready by late March - fully furnished. It's a block away from the Sarandi walking street, a block away from the Rambla (boardwalk), and two blocks from the Plaza de Independencia/Teatro Solis.
If interested, I can forward you pictures and such once the place is completed (should be in mid to late February).
Ciao y que tenga suerte,
Dominic
