Can anyone suggest a reasonable place to rent in montevideo? I am contemplating to move there next couple of months.I am an artist and would need some space for painting. Also what would be a typical expendicure a day in Montevideo-food and transportation.

Thanks for helping out

Thank author of this post/commentOK, I'm going to whine a bit on this post. I have been reading the posts on the site for many months now and I keep seeing the same information requested, like in the above posting. "What would be a typical expenditure a day in Montevideo-food and transportation?" For crying out loud. If the writer took a few moments to review previous posts first before writing his, his questions would be answered.

It may be none of my business, so flame me if you wish, but please folks do a little bit of work in research to get your information instead of asking others to hand it to you. All the information is right here!

Thanks, I feel better.

Thank author of this post/commentI would also add that "typical" varies considerably from person to person.

Are you a walker, bus rider, taxi, or need your own car (rental or owned). Do you want to eat out 3 times a day? Or once a week?

Do you need 3, 3+ megabit per second internet connections in your house... or a weekly 1/2 hr at a cybercafe?

Is a studio apartment in the back of a property in a working neighborhood or a 3 bedroom penthouse apartment on the Rambla what you need?

Does Oil and Vinegar dress or your salad or do you need imported US name brand salad dressings?

I think all of those great variations could be the perfect needs for different people.

The Buscandocasa website has been given out many, many, many times as a place to get a general idea of housing rents and sale prices. It is not the last word, but is organized by neighborhood and will get you started.

I would say typical transportation cost $0.00. Walk! Typical food. Eat out once for $250 pesos. $150 if you look hard. (one person).

Hey fvansan, THANK YOU! I have answered those questions SO many times and people still keep asking vague questions and not bothering to read the information already up here!

I wonder if they would know how to answer that question if I asked them "how much will it cost me to live in New York"...maybe then they might see how little sense that question makes!

Thank author of this post/commentYes... but for some people $1, 000 a month might be a lot and for others $50, 000 a pittance... so you aren't helping much!

Thank author of this post/commentNYC at least $50, 000 and you will most likely not be able to enjoy the cultural scene. Expect a studio apartment to be at least $2, 500 a month rent.

Fvansan, trust me if you do not want to do the 'dirty work' of researching for someone, trust me someone else will do exactly that. This forums are supposed to be the discussion ones and it does not matter what is being asked. In one way or the other, a discussion of other issues arises.

Nonetheless, the original poster needs to know that we have different tastes so he should state what he is looking for. Expenditure habits as well vary.
