| Looking for an executive physical exam in Montevideo It's about time for me to go in for my 50, 000 mile checkup and I was thinking about get an "executive physical" - the kind where they test everything they can think of and generally takes most of the day. Does anyone have any information about them in Montevideo? In particular, I'm looking for:1. Which hospital? 2. What is the cost? 3. How long does it take? 4. Any details on what it includes 5. How easy is it to go through for someone who's Spanish includes almost no medical terms? Thanks |

I dunno about all day executive checks but my local surgery (and most others I know of) are happy to undertake the standard carnet de salud examinations. As a self-employed person I'm supposed to do the carnet de salud every couple of years. The medico does a thorough physical examination and blood tests are taken... usually very early in the morning. The samples are sent away for all manner of analyses and my results usually come in the form of 8 to 10 pages of A4. The medico then goes through them with me, points out any abnormalities and advises me on what each result means. Last January he reckoned that my alkali phosphates were too high and my "good" cholesterol too low so has ordered more tests in July. AFAIR the exams and tests cost me just under 300 pesos. |

This isn't for renewing my carnet de salud. It's just been a while since I've had a physical, and I figured that I'd look into getting a really thorough one. From what I've been told by friends who've had one, they do a lot more blood tests than a normal exam, put you on a treadmill for a stress test, do a full-body scan, etc. I've heard you can them for a reasonable fee at Bumrungrad in Thailand, and want to see if they have something similar here (at a price I can afford). |

Thanks for that link, Glen. Have you used their services? Can you give us your evaluation? Thanks! |

The Hospital Britanico used to make this kind of checkup for employees of the company I used to work. They took you for a one-day medical raid, with interviews with a clinic doctor, an oftalmologyst, dentist, and other specialists if the blood, urine, echography or cardio tests shows any need. The exams had to be done some days after the interviews. Today, there are other tests as tomography or the PET, that they may probably include. Check the contacts as www. hospitalbritanico. com.uy , and send them a mail or phone them to see if they have what you want. |

| "Thanks Alberto!"
That sounds like the type of checkup I'm looking for. I'll get in touch with Hospital Britanico. |
