Dengue Alert Level Lowers
Medical and Healthcare in Uruguay Medical, Uruguay
rowena105 from UNIVERSAL STUDIOS DOWN SOUTH -
Although there were 11 suspected cases being tested the Public Health Minister Maria Julia Numoz said Wednesday they tested negative. This has meant that the dengue flu alert level has been lowered which is a blessing. Two weeks ago the alert had been raised to Phase 1 after tests showed a patient from Salto had contracted the disease. This disease has killed many in Paraguay, Argentin and Brazil and it was feared that it was about to spread to Uruguay. These new tests have lowered the threat of the spread of the hemorrhagi variant of the denegue cases. Good news for the Uruguayans. Trackbacks

It is important to note that Paraguay, Brazil and parts of Argentina are North of Uruguay (and more tropical). Salto is also in the Northern areaof Uruguay and warmer than Montevideo.Taking that into account, I suspect the risk for most Uruguayan's is quite low.

Well it's good to know that the risk is low but even though these other areas are further north it's still a risk because of travel these days.Someone could have a disease and not be aware of it when they get on a plane and the disease could spread to all the people in the plane. In my opinion it is always good to know when something is spreading so that everyone can take precautions with it.

It is a good thing that is it lowered. The flu virus is so easy to transmit. One would hope that someone with it wouldn't feel the need to get on a plane with hundreds of others and spread the disease.
