Restaurant Tandory
| Restaurant Tandory Restaurant Tandory in Pocitos offers some Asian and European Food. What I liked best was that on the first try they got it hot (spicey) enough to make me cry. Now that is my kind of place. I will try to get a menu to post on the next trip. They have menus in English and Spanish and the staff is pretty good with English. Being we got there just at opening time there was only some other Americans there. I think the sign on the door says 12:30 to 3:00 for lunch and 8:00pm to 1am for dinner, and probably not at all on mondays. We arrived at 8:00 and they said they didn't open till 8:30, but were happy to serve us early. Restaurant Tandory Scoseria 2459 esq. E. | Happy that you enjoyed your meal there. Me, I would have been breathing fire from both ends. The one thing I can't handle is spicy foods of any kind. They burn my mouth so badly that it's painful. To me enjoying my food does not include pain. Then a day later I'm getting pain at the other end as it continues to burn through my body. So, glad you found it and warned me about not going there. |
In Uruguay you never have to worry about getting something spicey by mistake. I am sure the meal I ordered comes without heat unless you make it clear you want to breath fire. The problem in Uruguay is finding the places that will make you breath fire, turn red, sweat, etc IF YOU WANT.
So, Lee, have you tried Restaurant Tandory? The restaurant serves French, Thai, Indian and Moroccan foods. It sounds like someplace I'd like to try at least once.
Thanks for the tip Lee. My wife loves spicey food. I love to watch her eat it. Gonna try it this weekend.
I started a blog entry for people to list restaurants that offer spicy dishes...
That's got to be very helpful, Wilbur. How many hits have you gotten? A blog of restaurants with spicy food. I actually really like that. I could do that with the restaurants in my area, but I'd never stop writing. ;-)
Did some one mention spicy Indian food in Montevideo??!!!!
Yes and all other kinds of spicy food!
Just back from there. me encanta! :)
oh and before I forget... there are enough choices which are marked "vegetarian optional"!
I love the food at Tandory... but they are priced out of my budget.
Does anybody have any good spicy food recipes?
FORGOT A VERY IMPORTANT DETAIL HERE . PRICES . REMEMBER THE ONES THAT ARE AWAY AND THINKING OF RETURNING ONE DAY . COSTS ARE VERY IMPORTANT ISSUE IN FIGURING OUT HOW UNEXPENSIVE IT IS . THANKS LUIS, VIRGINIA, USA .BORN & RAISED IN CIUDAD VIEJA.
I must try this one. I miss the Indian food from back in blighty. When I ask for spicy dishes here, they insist it is very spicy, but 9 out of 10 times it has no heat at all. I have to cook my own hot food from spices I bring back from trips to the UK. Uruguayans are not used to any hint of spice in their food unfortunately.
For spicy go to Mexico... they send you to the hospital with mouth burns! Beware... Cheers!
