Excitement in the Neighborhood

In short... there was a armored truck robbed and guard shot a block or so away from my apartment... read the full story in Spanish:

Thank author of this post/comment"Very dramatic"

We have a local retired policia with a lovely old Bren gun (WW II light machine gun) who assumes defensive positions to guard our three banks when the armoured security van comes. He backs up the existing armed bank guards who are equipped with revolvers and pump action shot guns.

The local BROU also has a resident policeman.

I suppose we are the ROU's wild west :-)

Thank author of this post/comment"quite odd"

I was having lunch last week in Pocitos on Benito Blanco in one of the Pasiva restaurants and when I was leaving an armoured vehicle/truck had pulled up to get or give money at some local bank or business and there had to be at least two guards, if not three, with what looked to be shotguns at the ready, standing in the street at hopefully strategic spots. It was unsettling to find myself in close proximity to that many firearms. Whoever those delinquents were in the news story you cite had to be pretty ballsy or it was an inside job.

For the nonspellers: Urugauy and Monte Video is Montevideo (monte-vid-day-o), real estate agents are "Inmobiliaria", and of course Uruguay is not spelled Uraguay. 3334483656
