| English jobs in Uruguay I am making plans to move to Uruguay early next year. I am interested in having my daughter find a job so that she has a little spending money (the pay isn't important). She isn't very fluent in Spanish so a job that requires English would be perfect. |
| you can try Tata near carrasco its a very busy office with work in the finance or office enviroment |
| Hi everybody at this moment i live in the U.S i graduated from High School in the U.S I'm looking for a job in the Uruguay i want to go back I'm very fluent in English and Spanish i can write, speak, read both languages and i can use Microsoft word, excel, power point and much, they can contact me by e-mail alvarov08@hotmail.com. thank you very and i appreciated your time |
| I hope that both English and Spanish have found everyday use in Uruguay. Spanish jobs could be in demand there or vice versa so why doesn't she, meanwhile, work on perfecting her fluency in Spanish? It might work against your expectations. Another thing, let her be part of the job search too. Get her involved in the whole process of identifying suitable locations. You do not want her disapproving of a choice you have made, do you? |
| I worked in retail (clothes shops) for many years in Ireland and I always worked with a lot of foreigners (mostly Spanish and Polish). Many times when they started work they wouldn't speak a word of english, but after a month or so they improved, and after a few months working in the shop had made them close to fluent!Maybe if your daughter has a good basis in Spanish but not enough confidence it would be better for her to get a job speaking Spanish...it would really give her more options too. |
| Hi Martin:Elaine´s idea of a Spanish speaking job is very good, specially if she wants to improve her Spanish. Another alternative for an English speaking job is Sabre Holdings. Sabre has a Global customer support center here in Montevideo with about 900 employees. In Sabre the official language is English and Spanish is not required. If you want more information you can contact me (I work there) or check their site www.sabre.com.uy. Best regards, Alex |
| "Seeking job in Montevideo"
Hi, my name is Mattias and I am from Stockholm, Sweden. I'm actually moving to live in Montevideo on December the 26th.I am a native Swedish and English speaker, and I am currently learning Spanish. However, my Spanish level is unfortunately not enough so as to apply for a Spanish speaking possition. I have sent my CV to Zonamerica but received no answer. Therefore, I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice of where to look for a job. Thank you very much! |
| "Swedish wanted"
Hello Mattias, At this very moment your language skills (Swedish)are specially required. You can contact Alejandro, I am sure he will help you to get an account in the Sabre hr tool, which you can naturally use to apply to any opened position here. Good luck and welcome to the south!! |
| "Lots of Options"
Elaine's comment seems very interesting. Any position in something that she likes to do normally in English would be great. There is also a constant need for English Teachers here. If she is interested in teaching English and getting free Spanish lessons in the process, she can apply at Berlitz International, on Bv. Artigas. The pay isn't great but the people are. Its a nice atmosphere and teachers can study any language that the Berlitz school teaches for free. ~P |
