Thank author of this post/commentMexico has received the support of parliamentary leaders from 10 nations in opposition to Arizona's controversial new immigration law, the Mexican Senate president said Wednesday. Mexico and the other nations signed a declaration expressing their "strong condemnation and profound rejection of the law, " said Senate President Carlos Navarrete Ruiz. Thank author of this post/comment" Vernita - Not just Mexicans"

Vernita, that is a good question. First I don't have any respect for the President of the United States of Mexico. Maybe with less corruption, better and broader ideas Mexico can find the way to provide jobs for all these very hard workers, the Mexican workers.

Why their fighting is because the Arizona Law violates American Federal Law.

Vernita, we need Immigration reform, the few things that I agree and support President Bush was him trying to reform Immigration. Being a Governor and resident of a Border State he had knowledge of the situation and tried to resolve it.

The Republican majority turned that idea down, also there maybe an easy way to stop illegals and that is put pressure on the Companies hiring illegals, but the Republicans never want to fight against the Business people.

Arizona is paying for the decision in Millions of Dollars, Businesses are closing the doors, Tourist are dropping by the Millions etc.

I was a friend with a Manager of farms in Apopka Florida and he told me that it would be very bad for his Business not to be able to hire the Mexicans, they work so hard under the Florida Sun all day.

I understand the Law of the Land and will respect it. But they need to watch what their wishing for, when the prices of Fruits and Vegetables start going up.

There should be something in the middle and no political propaganda.

Hispanic population here is the highest minority group in the USA and in the near future will be the first.

We don't want criminals and also people to live in fear of who these Illegals are, that is why Immigration reform is probably the only solution and it will be temporary.

People should remember that it's not only Mexicans who are living here illegal, just to mention a few - British, Germans, Irish, Italians, Canadian, Israelis, Russians etc and some Uruguayans.

But for the people here it's only Mexican, somehow they don't mix to good with what we call the "American look".

The other Countries should let the United States deal with the problem that is much bigger than their making it sound.

What would happen if for economic reasons the Brazilians started moving to Uruguay by the Millions taking Uruguayan jobs and bringing another language, how welcoming would our Government be ?.

Thank heavens the indigenous inhabitants didn't take such drastic actions when the first European settlers moved into the area. :-)

It pays to remember that we are all immigrants or descendants of immigrants in one way or another.

Thank author of this post/comment"They Tried"

Don't forget Patrick, the indigenous in Uruguay did try taking drastic action. But the Spanish and Portuguese killed most and drove the rest away. We certainly don't recommend the U.S. takes that drastic an approach, :) but something really must be done. The drain on the economy is pushing $US 450 billion per year.

They are going to have to find or grow good workers of their own. But the Mexican illegals are definitely the best I've ever hired or worked beside.

Northeast US, for now
Thank author of this post/comment"We need to stop attracting them."

There would be no narcotics trafficking issues at the border (and elsewhere)if residents of the US stopped buying and using drugs. Middle and upper-class US residents might not hire illegal immigrants to clean their homes, do their laundry, take care of their gardens, raise their kids or paint their houses if they could find a US-born worker to do the job with the same work ethic. I agree that the Mexican government needs to take care of their own and stop encouraging their people to cross the border. I also have read that Mexicans are not particularly hospitable to illegals crossing their southern border! So, they have a double standard. But US citizens need to stop hiring undocumented immigrants to help stem the tide. And they have to curb their drug abuse.

Thank author of this post/comment"Border issues"

Aren't the borders of the US the federal government's duty? If any single border state is allowed to decide how to take care of its own borders, wouldn't that create problems for the country as a whole down the line?

Thank author of this post/comment"More than border issues."

Sure Dan that is the duty of the Federal Government and that law was against Federal Law. Is Federal Government trying to fix this big problem ? YES, since the Bush Administration.

But you have to see the big picture and all of this is just another way to create an atmosphere of discontent to the Party in the White House , It's all political and thinking about the next Election.

Elections before was Abortion, weak on defense, bring back dignity to the White House and we all know what happened to all of that during the 8 years of Bush/Cheney.

Immigration is a big problem, but the propaganda from the right wing is ridiculous.

They got the White House without a deficit and now 1 1/2 years later with a straight face they blame Obama for the deficit.

Health care increased 175% an they tried to convince people that we don't need Obama Health care reform.

Wall Street almost put this Country on it's knees and their not happy with the Obama Regulations for the investment companies.

Now their trying to blame Obama for the Afghanistan War

Sick of propaganda, sick of the Republican Party saying NO to everything without bringing any valid solution to the problems created by THEM.

I remember the Title of a British Newspaper after the 2004 Election

"How can 50 Million people be so STUPID".

And then I watched Mujica on Ex-Guerrilero calling the opposition to inform them about decisions he's making and getting the approval and support.I'm calling that being Uruguayan.

I also recall Bush's visit to Uruguay when he tried to teach Economy to the Uruguayan Government and he did it with a smile and a smirk, sad memories when we know what happened to the USA.

Guys...all this political use of the immigration issue...as far as I know the US was made by immigrants..it sounds to me is noise to put the underclass americans against the sub-underclass americans (Ilegal, more or less brownish immigrants) .....you guys would need something of a new revolution out there...it seems to be things evolve toward a neo-facist-plutocratic system..bring it on, a guy without a Visa is not a criminal!!! I really hope i am completely wrong in my vision..and your country will be a great republic, with social care, politics to favour economy, cut military expending, bring back factories home, promote education , clean post industrial slum, promote the use of clean energy, public transport, teach darwin, pay taxes as per to keep the infrastructure, give University access for the poor, cut drug consuption, bring back budget to control etc...i hope so..
