And I would also like to ask if Cedula de Identidad is issued only after residency visa is granted, so does it mean that I need to go back to Uruguay for the second time to get it? To get cédula you need:1.Had start your residency process 2.Had your birth certificate register at the local national register for persons To start your residency process you don´t need to show you stay here 6 months... you need to go to migration office, show your passport and start the residency process. If the new tax laws go through, I think you'll find that possessing a cedula is an expensive pastime. Be sure that you have less than 80k U$S in assets world wide unless you want to join in the wealth tax fun. If you are a dollar millionaire, a cedula is likely to result in an annual payment of 24, 500 U$S plus income tax on your world wide income with no double taxation relief. |
