Immigration and Vaccination

Thank author of this post/commentHey Guys!

Thanks a bunch for your attention to my questions... please, let me clarify the vaccination point a bit.

I was referring to the process of FOREGOING the vaccination. I believe a govt's BLIND, ACROSS-THE-BOARD requirement regarding such a personal issue is the thing which is ridiculous. As far as how they administer all this... just sounds like typical South American "manana" mentality. I'm quite fine with that. I'm most curious to find out about the experience of those among us who have found a way around it.

btw... I like the suggestion about getting some doc from an MD in the US regarding the vaccination.

About the income req's-- the amount won't be an issue, just the source. Only been working for the company for a few months (and on contract, not as an employee). I wonder if wire transfers into my US account will be sufficient evidence?

Cheers All!

Thank author of this post/comment"One the escribana knows"

Only the escribana that will make your income letter for immigration and tell you what she (he) requires.

Probably a document from who ever sends the money to you. Whether that needs to signed, sealed, authencicated and translated is another question.

Though many North Americans will agree with your sentiments there, I'm not sure about Uruguayans, and you may need to decide your on your objective:

- Getting residency

or

- Fighting the battle over vaccinations in a country you hardly know.

Might suggestion would be to focus on getting residency and after you've lived there a few years and begin to understand the culture and how things work, look at ways you can develop interest in that concept.

Remember, at least until you are a legal resident, you are a guest. Going into the residency processing declaring all their procedures and requirements to be "ridiculous" will not make the process easy. That is not to say that word could not be used to describe many aspects of the residency process.

Just getting through the process holds enough frustration... trying to change the process as you go is something else entirely.

But go ahead and give it a try. All you really have to do is convince the medical professional in the clinic doing your exam that it is "ridiculous" and to give you the card without it.

For the nonspellers: Urugauy and Monte Video is Montevideo (monte-vid-day-o), real estate agents are "Inmobiliaria", and of course Uruguay is not spelled Uraguay. 2426930806
