Escribanias for the income letter requirement

Thank author of this post/commentI am wondering about the part of the residency process involving escribanias.

That is I'm talking about those required specialists we must find who handle our income evidence for the second time after our consulates has done the first part.

Such as for example:

How do we go about locating them ?

How much in fees we should normally expect to be charged ?

How much would their work quality vary from one to another ?

How important is the work quality of an escribano ?

(This in regards to some concerns about recent experiences having been mentioned (or implied) about the supposed added scrutiny or difficulties.)

Are there some who appear better connected to know more clearly the precise expectations, or who know of the latest requirements and/or updates ?

If our letter of income evidence prepared by our hired escribano is insufficient, is he still paid ?

If yes or no, should we continue using his services, or do we seek out another and hope for better results ?

On the other hand, maybe it's also our own responsibility to come up with better evidence to satisfy the sufficient income requirements.

My experience is that many professionals here speak some degree of English. Curiously, I had a 30 year experienced licensed translator do two of my documents, yet really struggled to communicate in English. So obviously, this type of translator doesn't mean the person is also bilingual. Nor does it guarantee that those of us lacking in our Spanish skills could communicate at ease with with such translators. It kind of interesting to me.

So this might also be worth asking:

How important would it be that their English level be to managed any difficulties that might occur ?

Thank author of this post/comment"Most Important"

Your Escribanias is the most important part of your residency process. It is probably the only part that is "subjective". All the other parts simply relate to having documents and having them legalized.

Your Escribania has to write an income statement that has to be acceptable to immigration. ie: she has to review your income documents and make a new acceptable document. She also has to sign it and take responsibility for it.

So, the most important aspect of your Escribania is probably that she has worked with immigration and knows exactly what they need. Additionally, some knowledge of English will probably be useful.

I always recommend you present a copy of your income documents to your Escribania before you get them legalized or translated to make sure they will satisfy the Escribania and if not find out exactly what she needs.

I believe going rate for the income letter is around $1000 (1000 pesos)... someone can correct me if inflation has stepped in. In my case, my Escribania made several corrections at no additional charge.

For the nonspellers: Urugauy and Monte Video is Montevideo (monte-vid-day-o), real estate agents are "Inmobiliaria", and of course Uruguay is not spelled Uraguay. 3365838571
