"Immigration Information in English"
I do not believe that Uruguayan Immigration has an English site. Below is a link to their home page. From there click: * Trámites * Tramite de Residencias * Residencia Legal Definitiva * ¿ Cuales son los requisitos para la Residencia Legal Definitiva ? For the requirements in SPANISH. I did not link directory because they seem to change things now and then. The last time I was at the immigration office I recall a sign that said (in Spanish) something to the effect that if you don't speak Spanish to bring someone with you that does. Remember Uruguay is NOT the USA and you need to accommodate the way things are not the other way around. There are various options for assistance which range from immigration consultants to attorneys. When speaking with any I would pay particular attention to the help they provide getting your documents legalized. There are also some, like Ana Inez who participates here that help people with whatever they want. She will pick you up and take to you the offices and help you go through the process. I like her way of doing things because you do the process and learn how things work, but have the assistance of someone who know the language and the process. If you dump a bunch of papers in someone's lap and wait for the end results... you miss out on the whole culture of the bureaucracy here. Expert Page: Quick Tips for Getting Settled in Uruguay |
