Films and/or Movies made in Uruguay

Thank author of this post/commentTopic, History is the closest as Films and Movies are not listed.

We, John & Liliana Tunstill, ex Richardson / Alpargatas / will be in Montevideo from 15th November 2010 until 15th March 2011.

Part of the time will be spent attempting to investigate and locate the real streets where the film Mataron a Venancio Flores, 1982 was made. But first we need a copy of the film. Have you got one or know where we can obtain one?

The results of the research will be entered onto the website www.reelstreets.com where feature films with architecturally identifiable scenes are loded, with, where possible, corresponding "now" shots.

There are some 400 films on line with 12 000 comparative photos. The login is believe and the password is fowler.

Look forward to meeting you all in November

Best wishes

John & Liliana Tunstill

Well, the ink was hardly dry on my message. Thankyou so very much for sharing your wonderful photos with us, and the rest of the group.

My Montevideo postcards are shown on the link below, which I'm not allowed to enter into this message.

Best wishes

John

John and Liliana, try the Cinemateca Uruguaya (a movie archive and NGO) which contacts you can get at www.cinemateca.org.uy. It seems they produced the film you are investigating. It was an old film, and not a particularly good one. I've seen it long, long ago, and I think I remember it as filmed mostly in rural areas, but I cannot quite remember if they were also some urban identiffiable locations. May be Cinemateca could help you.

Regards,

Alberto.

"mataron.........flores"

Alberto

Thanks for the advice, I contacted these people two years ago when I was last in Montevideo, but unhappily, despite several emails, heard no more from them. They have a wonderful collection of films and cinema memorabilia and also, during my visit, advised me that a Uruguyan version of The Three Musketeers was made in Parque Rodo in the 1930's. Another film to track down.

I'll contact them again when I arrive. Many thanks for your help. Hope to meet with you at one of the Sunday lunches

Best wishes

John

For the nonspellers: Urugauy and Monte Video is Montevideo (monte-vid-day-o), real estate agents are "Inmobiliaria", and of course Uruguay is not spelled Uraguay. 793671120
