Thank author of this post/comment"Expat ebook"

Click the link for the expat book in the menu at the top of the page. There is a section on negative and positive aspects of living in Uruguay.

Your experiences in Central America, Canada, Mexico, and Italy won't really help you know Uruguay. It would be a good idea to spend some time here before you make the decision to stay the duration.

WHY would a person not wish to live there?

It depends on the person of course. What are your expectations of Uruguay?

Thank author of this post/comment"Why Uruguay? Why Not?"

"Your experiences in Central America, Canada, Mexico, and Italy won't really help you know Uruguay."

This is true, every country is different and has different quirks to take in to account, but living abroad teaches you to assimilate (well, for most people at least, not all). This flexibility and open attitude will stand to you no matter where you choose to settle. Jay if you had the patience to survive Central American countries then the bureaucracy here will probably be nothing in comparison to there (though be aware that vacationing somewhere and LIVING somewhere are very very different).

The 2 articles in the expat ebook guide about the pros and cons of life here will help give you a basis. The article about the positives is already linked at the top and bottom of this thread, here is the article about the annoying stuff, maybe this will show you a snippet of both sides.

For the nonspellers: Urugauy and Monte Video is Montevideo (monte-vid-day-o), real estate agents are "Inmobiliaria", and of course Uruguay is not spelled Uraguay. 4111121448
