living the dream

Thank author of this post/commentSo you are only looking for those "living the dream" and not a balanced view? Though I believe many every much enjoy their adventures living in Uruguay (and elsewhere), some don't and return home. Some of those returning home don't really give a place a fair shot and pack their bags after a day or two. Others spend months or a couple years.

But, I think for many expats, it's an adventure... like all things in a life.. a mix of accomplishments and challenges.

Maybe you are reading too much of certain organizations promotional literature that may give you the impression that you can hop on an airplane to somewhere and when you get off you'll "be in the dream, " a fantasy world where everything is exactly as you imagine it to be, ie: living the dream.

It think it is much more realistic and interesting to be "living the adventure."

Again, by asking about "leaving" you are setting a focus for people. Maybe some moved for reason that had nothing about "leaving" but were focused on "going".

"Why did you leave the United States?"

"Why did you go to Uruguay?"

Those two questions will get you vastly different answers, the first, probably focused on politics, economy, or other such boring nonsense.

The later may well get you some stories of interest and adventure.

Of course a good answer to both could well be to "break the habit of watching TV, especially the news programs in the US".

For the nonspellers: Urugauy and Monte Video is Montevideo (monte-vid-day-o), real estate agents are "Inmobiliaria", and of course Uruguay is not spelled Uraguay. 1642978296
