USA 110 V to Uruguay 220 V devices

Thank author of this post/commentOK, for those American expat who moved to Uruguay. One of my concerns is all the electrical devices I have from tools to expensive appliances. Knowing my electrical devices are 110 V is there a way to convert a home's electricity into 110V from 220V or am I stuck with buying dozens of converters. Obviously buying converters is cheaper than replacing all my electrical devices, especial when I consider the VAT. This is an important consideration for me. I do understand I have to purchase different plugs adapters for these things too. How have others done this.

Thank author of this post/commentYou can buy a big transformer. I got a 1000 watt transformer for about us$50 (might be more now).

There are various concerns. Will the devices work at 110V, 50hz? For Video stuff will it work in PAL-N format?

Most computers and electronic stuff seems to work at 110 AND 220... or has switch to select it.

My advice for you dude is have the home you are staying at with a centralized electrical system whether if its 110 or 220~240 volts. That way you wont be bulked with many converter and you just need one which is on you main electric circuitry. Don't try to do this yourself can this is a very dangerous thing to deal with if you're not an expert on this. Just let the experts / professional do this for you for safety.

I have to agree with you Beavis. A home with a centralized electrical system is better than being stuck in a home filled with electrical converters but then again, you have already availed a number of converters, am I right?
