Thank you Lee and Shirley for your response. It gave us something to consider. We saw the add for the Apart Hotel Bremen in Centro. It looked interesting from a cultural view. Kind of like a neighborhood hotel and bar. It appears to be a German run operation. Do either of you know anything about the place or the area.

We hope to attend 3 of the expat meetings when we arrive in November. We have been looking forward to this for a while ( over a year). We haven't been to South America since 04.

Another question if I may. Do they have taxi's in Punta del Este. If we take the bus to Punta, we need to transportation to the hotel once we arrive there. We plan to rent a car once we get there.

Your comments and info would be greatly appreciated.

Jane Jackson

The only complaint's I've heard about the Hotel Bremen is they've been full when some people wanted to stay there. It is in "Centro" ie: Downtown. A couple blocks (I think) from the main drag, 18 de Julio.

There are taxi's in Punta del Este. Depending on where you are staying you may be able to walk to the hotel.
