| "Paradise"
My wife and I lived on Maui for a year (in the 80's). If I had my choice, that is where I would be living. Of course, I know things have changed, but still..... However, I would never have had the money to afford Hawaii, so I'm not complaining/ |
| "Missing Hawaii"
I lived in Hawaii for about 7 years (98-05), I loved it. I somehow met my wife there( she's from Uruguay) and now we live here. As far as living, it is quite an adjustment. But I think you would find the attitude outside of the city in Uruguay is similar to that of Molokai or one of the other small islands. I guess it depends where you would like to settle. Real estate is certainly cheaper, but the way prices are rising in South America, not for long! |
| "Paradise is Changed"
I am native Hawaiian and Native American and Caucasian mix. I currently live in Hawaii and it has become no different from the mainland in so may ways. The place is being over run with "Trust Babies" and or people with more money than brains who build mega mansions and are slowly destroying not only the natural beauty of the islands, but the natural beauty of the Hawaiian culture. It surely is different than in the 80's.I like what one respondent said about Molokai which still retains much of that old time Hawaiian Aloha. |
