South American Beach Games 2009

Thank author of this post/commentWell the summer has most definitely arrived in Uruguay, and this year with quite a bang! Not only were the temperatures already reaching high 20s and in to the 30s (80s/90s fahrenheit) as early as November, but now the South American Beach Games are happening all along the coast!

This is the first South American Beach Games Tournament and it will last from 3rd until 13th of December 2009. The events will take place in both Montevideo and Punta del Este and with the weather already so nice they are bound to attract big crowds!

Countries comepeting will be Uruguay, Venezuela, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Aruba and the Dutch Antilles...in case this fact hasn't computed yet I would like to point out that those nationalities plus the beach equal a lot of very attractive men and women!!

The sports will include - volleyball, football (soccer), handball, rugby (wouldn't like to play that on the beach - a lot of sand in the mouth I imagine!). In the water there will be open water swimming, sailing, surfing, water skiing and triathlon competitions.

I have already seen the stadium set up on the Buceo end of Pocitos Beach in Montevideo so don't miss out, its a lot of fun to watch!
