Thank author of this post/commentI don't know much about either. I wanted to go when there was something going on but it doesn't seem like there are a lot of festivals in Uruguay.

Well, to answer your question. Yup, there are not so many festivals in Uruguay. Here is what I saw in about.com:

Feb 2, Virgen de la Candelaria-Punta del Este

Feb/Mar, Carnaval and Las Llamadas-Montevideo and National

Feb/Ma, Semana Santa-National

May 1, Dia de los Trabajadores(Labor Day)-National

May 18 , Batalla de las Piedras-National

June 19, Natalicio de Artigas-National

July 18, Jura de la Constitución-National

August 25, Dia de la Independencia-National

October 12, Dia de la Raza(Columbus Day)-National

November 2, Dia de los Muertos-National

December 25, Navidad(Christmas) Day-National

It is a music festival in Uruguay. They have all kinds of music there. If able i would def attend it.

If you can please provide a link or an image of how do the Uruguayans celebrate their "fiestas"? When did their festivities start? What is this for?

I haven't heard of the 'Liceal Festival' yet, although Uruguayans are notorious for having multiple names for things (most of their plazas have 2 or 3 alternative names!)

I'll ask around and see what I can find out about it. Until then here's some information on Carnaval in Uruguay....
