Jazz in Montevideo!!

A Canadian expat was asking me recently if there is any blues music played anywhere in the city. As far as I know blues isn't popular AT ALL in Uruguay but I could be totally wrong...maybe in more American style areas like Carrasco there is an audience for it? Does anyone know about blues music in Montevideo?

I came across this Uruguayan blues band called "Calvario Blues" (meaning Cavalry Blues), they sound pretty good (you can listen to some of their music at their myspace page on the link below) but I have no idea how to find out where and when they play in Montevideo!

Does anyone know is there a place in Montevideo that is known for blues music?

Pablo Traberzo is a truly amazing blues guitarist. He plays at the Shannon Irish Pub in Cuidad Vieja a couple of times a month; you can check the schedule at the link below. He may also still be playing on Friday nights at Vía Bar (Luis Alberto de Herrera 2751 esquina Monte Caseros); call first to ask and make reservations.

You can find clips on YouTube; just search for "Traberzo".
