Wednesdays are Salsa Night!

If you're ever looking to entertain someone (or yourself!) on a week night in Montevideo you may be pressed for options. However if its a Wednesday night and you're in any way rhythmically inclined (or even if you're not) then definitely check out the salsa night at Azabache Club in Parque Battle (walking distance from Tres Cruces).

It is always guaranteed to be a full club and a fun night. Go early (9.30pm) for salsa lessons, arrive at 11 to watch couples impressively swinging each other around the dance floor or arrive at 12.30/1 for a change in tempo to more of a varied club scene.

All in all its a fun place and entry is only 100pesos, definitely worth a visit!

As December and January are high summer season here in Uruguay you'll find that Montevideo becomes a very very quiet city as everyone goes off to the beaches (Punta del Este, La Paloma, La Pedrera, Punta del Diablo).

There are always events on, and Montevideo is a great city if you're willing to make the effort to really go out and search for it, but don't expect things to be right in front of your face - especially in summer!

If you're looking for BIG parties then Punta del Este will be the place for you during that time.
