Well, I know some of the best places to get wine are in the wine region near Punta del Este and Montevideo. You can rent a car and do a wine tour.

The best wine would be the wine that you drink when you're on vacation, the wine you drink when you happy with friends of family. The the best wine for me no matter what its made of or where it came from

Hi Copeland,

Uruguay is making of the TANNAT the wine of Uruguay. For some people the Tannat is a bit tough in taste but you can get excellent cuts Tannat/Merlot.

Can you really rent a car there and do a wine tour? What do you do, just get taking around by a car to different wine shops and sample there wine?

What is Uruguay's signature wine or the wine the country is known for and regularly how much does it cost? I like tasting wine and as much as possible would like to taste every country's pride and honor, their wine.

I'm not a big wine drinker myself but I've heard some great things about Uruguay's very unique and distinct wines such as Tannat and Tannat/Merlot mixes.

One thing I would highly recommend if you're a wine enthusiast is taking a tour of wine country here. The countryside in Uruguay is really beautiful and its surely the best way to discover which wine is your favorite!
