Galpones

Thank author of this post/commentI really like the word :-) Un galpon can be anything from a small garden shed to a large aircraft hanger.

Most modern ones are steel frame with corrugated metal cladding but I've met frameless brick built ones, steel frame c/w insulated panels, concrete block jobbies and even wooden pole barn type constructions. Mine is a former piggery and is constructed of crumbly hollow concrete blocks with reinforced concrete/steel uprights every 5 meters. It has a corrugated monopitch roof which was supported on rotten wooden poles so I replaced them with triangular purlins made from 3 x 7mm steel rods with 4mm zigzag rods welded between them to keep them rigid.

Most galpones tend to be clear span.

In these parts, a man is judged by his galpon :-)
